Dean Markley Blue Steel Electric Guitar Stringsstar rating 5glenn vanishApril 20, 2011This model created by dean markley "blue steel" have a nice tone much like the super v's by dean markley, but what really caught my attention was how comfortable they feel on your finger like you can really bend them. The Nuno Bettencourt signature strings are pretty cool too with it's tone and feel and hope that those strings can be brought back on the market.
Dean Markley Blue Steel Electric Guitar Stringsstar rating 5CarlOctober 28, 2010I purchased an Epiphone Les Paul (used) that came with a set of these on it. The guitar played like a dream... I really wanted the same strings as you can imagine. It took me almost a year to finally find what brand they were! The original owner didn't know. (Extra special thanks to Mike and the great folks at Strings and Beyond for the assist!) I'm using the 10s. They have a fantastic feel. They play like 9s but with the meatiness of a heavier string - which I prefer. I can't tell you how close to perfect these are for that. I also use a D'Addario flat wound (11s) that are really fun to play... especially Jazz and Blues! And while these aren't as meaty, the feel is almost as smooth. I'm not sure about the customer who was concerned about the discoloration. It doesn't happen to me.... though it could just be because of his hand moisture. Either way, they last a long time and sound excellent for blues, jazz and even prog rock! Buy a set and try them! You'll be happy you did!

Very great if playing Texas style to a more chordal Jazz style. Long lasting tone till the bitter breaking end. The only draw back is that they oxidize real quick (turn black)! I would like to see the helix in cryogenic form, and a Blue Steel gauge from .10-56 Thanks Dean Markley for excelling with technology! Rustin
