The T.I. EB344 PowerBass is my first choice roundwound set on a passive gigging bass because this set covers a lot of ground. It is the loudest set I've ever used and has a remarkably versatile wide ranging tone. This string set delivers as close to an active sound as you will get on a passive bass. When played with a pick these can be overly bright for me but might be fantastic for harder styles of music.The tension is lower than on most other roundwound strings so they are easy to setup and are comfortable to play with minimal finger noise. I've actually tried to break them on purpose by severely overplaying them and have failed to break a single sting on a two year old set even when pulling as hard as possible with 4 fingers at a time. Crank the treble and be amazed at the brightness even when played fingerstyle. Roll off the highs and get a vintage correct deep full tone that doesn't sound muffled at all. Just like the JF344 Jazz Flats, one set of PowerBass EB344 strings will last me at least two years, even on a daily player. Any tonal changes are so gradual that I hardly even notice them aging. So while they cost more than almost any other roundwound set, they are worth the difference in the long run. How many roundwound string sets do you use in two years? I use just one set, but only I know it. If you've tried the T.I. Jazz Flats and liked them, I suggest trying the PowerBass set for your roundwound needs as they suit me far better and I think are more versatile than the Jazz Flats and have a hotter output. The Jazz Flats are remarkable in their own ways, but I like the PowerBass set even better and consider the PowerBass set the best and most versatile string at any price.
