Also seemed to attenuate the highs a bit. yuck.

The tone is great, they distort great, and I love their harmonics. If not for the price tag, I would use these strings all the time. I use Dunlop Wylde series strings because those are a lot cheaper and sound wise are pretty good also. But these strings are great and I especially like the heavy bottom feature.
